we have all seen the pictures of the destruction and suffering caused by the recent earthquake

this is what the fundraising effort is about and our hearts go out to this stricken land and its people in their sorrow and loss ,
many still injured hungry and without shelter
or any  feeling of security for the future
and to the huge task of rebuilding their shattered country

but I just wanted to add a few links to  online resources that show the  Culture of Haiti

because it is a country that may be poor in material terms but is extraordinary rich in Spirit

because ithe site is built in frames , it isnt possible to link to individual pages but it is full of wonderful things and useful resources and hosts a discussion forum

where people talk - rather that just being reprted on

Born in Gonaïves, Mompremier began painting in 1973 as a student of Gérard Valcin. I've seen many of his works in galleries: nearly all have been colorful vodou interpreta–tions, often with La Sirène, Agoué, or both.

Vibrant Haitian art vanishes in the dust

Haiti has lost huge chunks of its artistic culture, with the destruction and damage of historic paintings and murals, along with the deaths of art collectors.

PORT-AU-PRINCE -- The vibrant murals that once adorned the walls of the Cathedrale of Sainte Trinite -- created in the 1950s by some of the giants of Haitian art -- are now largely dust, part of the gray rubble that covers most everything in Port-au-Prince.  here
